Vatican City-August 2007

We actually came here on two days, so we had more time to explore and see the Vatican Museums and St. Peter's Basilica, and see the Sistine Chapel. I loved this more than I thought. Loved the amazing art we saw here. I bought a book detailing what we saw and could not take pictures of so if you ever want to see that before you go to Italy.
One of the most impressive works we saw! Michelangelo was only twenty-five years old when he did this piece of art, for the jubilee of 1500AD. It is the only work signed by the artist (his name is carved on the sash of the Madonna).

This was taken inside the vatican museum looking out.

Italy a very beautiful country! August 25, 2007

On our way to Rome by train...nice view!

Here is one of the pictures I took while we were traveling to Rome by train. There were places like this along the way, sitting atop the hillsides.

Rome is HOT! August 25, 2007

Here we are at the end of touring the colosseum, you can't tell how hot it is here. We loved looking all over on the different levels at the collosseum. Lots of cool old statues and art done at the time. Time for some Gelato!!! Rome was very impressive, loved thinking about all the things that went on there many years ago.

Kelly and Ryan in Rome-August 25, 2007

ROMA! August 25th, 2007

We traveled to Rome by train from Florence, here is one of the signs at the train station as we were getting close.
It was really hot when we arrived in Rome, thankfully for only one day, we are standing here outside the coliseum.
Looking at this picuture you have no idea how HOT it is here. We felt like we were going to melt.

Aug. 23, 2007 Loved Florence!

Center of Florence by the Duomo.
We arrived and went and checked out the suroundings.
This hotel was in the center of the city and was so nice, I really lucked out and picked a good one. Mainly because it was in the middle of everything going on in Florence.
Pretty store front of a bakery in Florence.
Kelly in the famous picture taking spot near the bridge where they sell all the jewerly. Check out the reflections there, end of the day sunset time. So pretty there. Kelly got a really pretty ring on that bridge.
Golden sunset time. Ryan took this nice picture of Scott and I. Thanks Ryan, one of our little treasures from the trip. Gotta frame this one. It looks so peaceful there.
